Targeted Assistance Program:
Seventy (70) of our children in grades 1-4, representing 49% of the students in those grades, receive daily small group remedial instruction known as Targeted Assistance. The children were selected based on teacher recommendation and a score on the IOWA Test of Basic Skills that indicated the need for academic support.

The Targeted Assistance Program
has several components:

  • Paraprofessional support
  • Small group remediation following a pull-out model
  • After School tutoring and homework assistance.
  • Saturday Academy

The goal of the program is to bring all children at or above the national norm on the ITBS post-test, scheduled for June 2005, and all New York State standardized tests.

Children are admitted to the Targeted Assistance program throughout the year whenever the classroom teacher feels that the child is in need of remediation.
