Carl C. Icahn Charter School
1525 Brook Avenue, Bronx, NY 10457

Admissions:

Charter schools are public schools. Any child in New York City may apply to a charter school. Admission is done by lottery, with preference given to local Community School District children. The only exception to admission by lottery is that the sibling of a student currently in the charter school is exempt from the lottery process.

To be able to attend Carl C. Icahn Charter School, the family must submit a request for admission to the School prior to the lottery. Families may call or visit the School. The application period will be February and March, with the admission lottery conducted in April.

A lottery is conducted in the spring for Kindergarten. Once a grade is full, the remaining children are put on a Wait List, determined by the order in which the name was chosen in the lottery. After the children are chosen in the lottery, all families are notified of the outcome, whether a child was admitted or put on the Wait List.

In that we have hundreds of requests for admissions to our other grades, children are placed on a waiting list and are admitted when a vacancy occurs in the order in which they applied.

Admission preference is given to siblings of currently enrolled students and to applicants from the Community School District.
